When I read how badly you felt about a past attitude toward someone who had lost a parent, I immediately wanted to send you a suggestion.

During the last couple of years, I've decided to get serious about apologizing to people, if not before, then by the weeks preceding Rosh Hashanah. I've done it, even when I'm apologizing about an angry or otherwise negative thought, and the person I'm apologizing to probably had no idea I'd done or thought anything negative about them. Usually, I do it by email, so they can have a chance to read it and think it over -- and have something to keep, if that helps them. I can think of one case where I received no response. But for the most part, even if we haven't been in touch recently, or if, indeed, they'd had no idea, it has still meant a lot to the recipient. I can't help thinking that's a major reason we are told to do it.

If you can find that person, even if that takes some doing, I highly recommend it. Maybe it would help him -- and you.

Best wishes,
MarjorieMarjihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16961903287366640729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5750380952284999212.post-4048004035156311422009-08-10T17:38:05.576-07:002009-08-10T17:38:05.576-07:00Please share our condolences with your family when...Please share our condolences with your family when you are back in Chi Town.

Will you continue this blog?
